Security Park Ranger (Part Time Evenings)
The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is currently seeking a Part-Time Security Park Ranger. The duties for this position are focused primarily on assisting our guests in a safe and friendly manner with traffic control and parking.
Applicants must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills, have the ability to interact well with the public and be able to demonstrate sound judgment and make good decisions. A high level of integrity, professionalism and honesty is required. Physical requirements include the ability to traverse zoo grounds on foot and on a bicycle. Applicant must be able to work in adverse weather conditions, operate a motorized vehicle, lift up to 50 pounds without difficulty, bend, lift, climb, stoop, kneel and stand & walk for up to 6-8 hours at a time. This position does not require a State of Florida Security License. A valid Florida driver’s license is required.
We are looking to fill shifts, holidays included and must be available to work weekends. Work hours will vary to accommodate our guest needs.
In addition to your pay, this position includes discounts at the zoo and zoo membership.

AZA Accredited For More Than 30 Years
Since 1987, Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has been an accredited AZA member. The accreditation process includes a detailed application and a meticulous on-site inspection by a team of trained zoo and aquarium professionals. The inspecting team observes all aspects of the organization’s operations, including animal care and welfare; keeper training; visitor, staff and animal safety, educational programs; conservation initiatives; veterinary programs; financial stability; risk management; and more. AZA accreditation is valid for five years and then the accreditation process is repeated to ensure all standards and best practices are being upheld. Accreditation standards are updated every year.
